William E Tierney, 80, of the Menlo Park Terrace Section of Woodbridge entered into eternal rest Monday, August 22, 2011, at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

William was born in Albany and has resided in Menlo Park Terrace for the past 45 years. He was a Patrol Supervisor with the Department of Defense Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne for 10 years before retiring. Previously he had worked as an over-the-road dispatcher with Spector Freight in Secaucus. He was a retired teamster and had served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

William was predeceased by his wife, Rosemarie Ciani Tierney, in 1990. He is survived by his children: Dawn Diehl of Clinton, Roseann Tierney of Menlo Park Terrace, Michele Zeliniak of Perth Amboy, Erin Rebenski of Manahawkin, and William G. Tierney of Menlo Park Terrace; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 2 sisters: Catherine Kochan of Schenectady, NY, and Constance Wakeman of Delmar, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26th, at 9:15 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Cecelia's RC Church. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, August 25th, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.
