Obituary

William A. Ray, Sr., 83 of Plainfield, passed away on January 4, 2014 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Orange County, NC, Bill has lived in Plainfield since 1986.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was in the 101st Airborne Paratrooper Division as a Sargent first Class E-8, he then reenlisted in the Army for a total of 20 years, retiring in 1968. Bill then took a job with Western Electric as a Corporate Management Educator. During his career with Western Electric, he worked in Nebraska, Minnesota, Whippany, NJ and Morristown, NJ.

Bill earned an Associate Degree from Middlesex Community College, 1975. He enjoyed exotic fish, boating, fishing and time trials with his GTO.

He is predeceased by his two sisters, Cora Johnson and Margaret Clark; and brother, Cleother Latta.

He is survived by his four children, Darlene Scott, Olga El and her husband Stanley, Natalie Delk and her husband JuneLee and his son William A. Ray and his wife Lorena; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph Latta, Billy Ray, Ernest Ray and Clyde Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Abundant Life Church, 43 South Jefferson Rd., Whippany, NJ 07981. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30-10 AM. Interment will be in the Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown.
