Obituary

F. William "Bill" Murphy, 64, of Edison, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 26, 2012, surrounded with the love of his family at his bedside. He was born in New Brunswick, and was a life-long resident of Edison. Bill was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was the recipient of the Silver Star Medal for his heroic efforts of valor and bravery. A self-employed general contractor and master carpenter, he was the owner operator of Bill Murphy Construction in Edison for 40 years.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Murphy. He leaves behind his beautiful bride of 44 years, Stephani; his son, Robert Michael Murphy and his wife Colleen of Metuchen; his three daughters: Meredith and her husband Brian Joyce of Metuchen, Rebecca and her husband Major Rene Torres, USMC, of Camp Lejeune, NC, who is currently serving in Afghanistan; and Danielle and her husband, Major Andrew Kelley, USMC, who is also serving in Afghanistan; his ten outstanding grandchildren: Katelyn Marie Murphy, Brianna Marie Murphy, and Robert Michael Murphy II, William Murphy Kelley and Rebecca Grace Kelley, Samuel Rene Torres and Sophia Danielle Torres, Jack Murphy Joyce, Charles Murphy Joyce, and Delilah Anne Joyce; his sister, Deborah Murphy of Wilmington, NC; sister-in-law, Jodi Nittoli; Godson, Joseph Calabrese; countless brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Friends may visit the the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 on Saturday morning from 9:30 am to 12:00 Noon followed by a 12:30 pm service at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fords, followed by military honors.

It was Bill's wishes that all who attend wear colorful, comfortable attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Our Redeemer Lutheran School, 28 Fourth St., Fords, NJ 08863.
