Adamshick Jr., William
William (Bill) Adamshick Jr., 87, of Perth Amboy, NJ passed away Saturday at the RMBC. He was born on September 3, 1927 in, Nanticoke, PA to Vasil and Katherine (Petenko) Adamshick and was the last of 10 children. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Clements), his three sons, William (Mary Schwab) of Forked River, Michael and John of Perth Amboy, two grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Adamshick. He was a former and active member of the Holy Transfiguration Church, Nanticoke, PA.
Bill is a United States Army veteran, discharged in March, 1947 and belonged to the VFW, Perth Amboy. He graduated from King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA with a degree in Economics and was a member of the King's College Alumni club. Bill retired as the Chief Clerk of the Perth Amboy Department of Municipal Utilities in 1994.
He was an active member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Perth Amboy and past member of the church choir. He was very involved and was a former officer of the PTA. He was the basketball coach for the parish school, chaired the 25 Club and ran many fund raising events for the PTA. Joyce and Bill loved to dance at these events and this brought great joy to his kids.
Bill was an avid sports fan and a Perth Amboy Youth Baseball League coach. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Philadelphia Eagles. He and his family enjoyed watching games together and discussing in great detail Eagles statistics, players, the glories and failures of the team.
Bill was devoted to his family, his church and the organizations he served. He loved his Ukrainian heritage, Polka music, his community, and his childhood hometown. Bill will be remembered with love by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ, (732) 826-0358. On Wednesday, services will begin at the Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00am Divine Liturgy at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Perth Amboy. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to Missionary Sisters of Mother of God.
