Obituary

William John Meyer, affectionately known as Bill, peacefully passed away on June 30 at the age of 87 in Autryville, NC. Bill was born in 1936 in Elizabeth, NJ. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him and knew him as a man of gentle demeanor, witty charm, unwavering love, and remarkable intelligence.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his surviving family members, including his dear sibling Fred Kellisch and cousin Delores Wilmott. He is also survived by his cherished children: Karen Meyer Harrell and her husband Cecil Harrell, Billy Meyer and his wife Kris Meyer, Kenny Meyer, and David Meyer. The legacy of Bill's warm heart extends to his adored grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda, Andy, Tiffany, Shauna, Samantha, Billy Jr., Richard, and Veronica. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Minnie Brandt, his father William Meyer, his dear sister Carol Meyer, his beloved wife Carole Meyer, and his precious daughter Christine Meyer.

Bill began his journey after graduating from Roselle Park High School by serving in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. His remarkable military service showcased his honor, courage, and commitment to his country.

Throughout his career, Bill dedicated himself to his work. At Bendix, he played an integral role in the production of parts for the Navigation and Control Division of the Apollo Space Program. His contributions to this monumental endeavor were testament to his unwavering dedication and professional acumen.

Bill's faith also held a significant place in his life. He was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy, NJ, where he served as Senior Warden for multiple terms. He also found solace in worship at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Tuckerton, NJ, and the Roseboro Methodist Church in Roseboro, NC.

In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including collecting, participating in the American Legion, reading, and taking in the serene beauty of the beach.

Honoring Bill's life, a viewing will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4-7pm at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, located at 23 Ford Ave, Fords NJ. 08863. Funeral Services and burial will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 183 Rector St, Perth Amboy NJ. A future memorial service at Roseboro Methodist Church in Roseboro, NC, will be announced in due course.
