William "Bill" J. Urbanski, Jr., 86, of Barnegat, passed peacefully on May 6, 2018, at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin.
Born in Perth Amboy he had resided in Barnegat for the last 18 years.
He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, class of '49, and received his masters degree from Seton Hall University.
Prior to that, Bill played professional baseball as a 2nd Baseman in the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization.
He retired in 1990, after over 30 years as a teacher and a Learnings Disabilities Specialist with the Perth Amboy Board of Education's Department of Special Services.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Anne H. who died May 9, 2017, his parents; Mary and William, Sr., (a former shortstop for the Boston Braves, in the 1930's), a sister; Marie Van Brummelen, his son-in-law, Scott Sandor and brother-in-law, Joey Kirila.
Bill leaves behind his beloved son, William "Billy", III and his wife, Denise, his three beloved daughters, Linda, Cindy and Patty, his four dear grandchildren; Alexis, Will, Brianna, and Lauren and many nieces.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm , at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 9:15 am, from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church, of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn.
