Volma Cameo Zelda Stone Coen, 96, of Fords, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2023.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and had resided in Fords since 1960.  Volma (aka Val or G-ma Val) was a retired Supervisor of Nursing at Roosevelt Hospital in Edison, NJ.  She was a member of Neve Shalom, Metuchen, NJ. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend to all that were lucky to have known her.

Val was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Coen, in 1992.

She is survived by her children: David Coen and his wife, Cheryl; Jo-Anne Wdovichik and her husband, Rudy; and Donna Coen O'Gorman and her partner, David Green; seven grandchildren: Stacey and her husband, Jason; Damon; Leigh; Lauren and her husband, Ray; Marc; Bryan and his spouse, Leela; and Rachel; four great-grandchildren: Ava, Dylan, Randy, and Ryan; and her sister-in-law, Paula Roberts, nieces and nephews and loving friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at 12 Noon at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  The family will receive mourners beginning at 11:15 AM at Flynn.

The family will be accepting visitors at her residence, 32 Varady Drive, Fords, NJ, immediately following the funeral home services until 4:00 PM and from 7:00—9:00 PM and on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 1:00—4:00 PM and 7:00—9:00 PM.

An inurnment graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM, on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Temple of Israel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.  If you plan on attending, please gather at the mausoleum and not the office.

Due to the Passover Holy Day, Shiva observance will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, following the inurnment at Beth Israel Cemetery to­ 4:00 PM and 6:30—8:30 PM with services at 7:00 PM at the home of Donna Coen O'Gorman, 36 Harmon Road, Edison, NJ.

Memorial donations may be made to the JCC Senior Center of Edison or the Adult Education Fund at Neve Shalom, Metuchen.
