Virginia Mcdonald
Kerr
June 18, 1956 – August 5, 2024
Virginia McDonald Kerr, a beautiful soul of strength and love of family, after a long illness, slipped away peacefully in her own home on the morning of Monday, August 5, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Virginia was one of four children of the late Edward J. and Genevieve DeSantis McDonald. As a baby her family moved to Old Bridge NJ where she grew-up. After graduating from Madison Township High School, she went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree at Kean University. Her impressive career of over 23 years was spent at McMaster-Carr Supply Co in Robbinsville as a dedicated sales representative.
In 1984 she met the guy who would become the love of her life, down the shore, and who told her she would eventually become his wife. Although she wasn't too sure about that at the time; that promise came true just a year later, October 12,1985, when Virginia and Carmel Kerr became husband and wife in St. Thomas Church in Old Bridge. As their story continued, they settled into their home in Fords in 1989 and had their own family with the blessings of their children Ryan and MacKenzie.
Virginia was a force of reason, organization, and strength. Her raw truthfulness was one of her hallmarks. She always knew what she wanted. She faced her challenges head-on and she did it all with grace and dignity. She will be sorely missed by her beloved family, dear friends, co-workers, and all who had the pleasure to have known her.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was recently preceded in death by her dear sister Elaine McDonald on July 12, 2024. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Carmel; her beautiful children Ryan and MacKenzie; loving sister Judy Prodromo and her husband Steve; and her loving brother Brian McDonald. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather to remember Virginia at a memorial visitation on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. The family would request in lieu of gifts or flowers please make donations to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice in Virginia's name.
