Obituary

Thomas E. Shannon Sr., 76, of Edison, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at home. Born Aug. 5, 1933 in Elizabeth, he resided in Edison for the past 49 years.

He retired in 1993 as a warehouseman for Wakefern Foods, Elizabeth, where he worked for 38 years. After retiring from Wakefern, he worked at Costco, Edison for 10 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Fords; and member of Martin Wallberg Post #3, American Legion, Westfield. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Joyce Stansbury Shannon; four children, Thomas E. Shannon Jr. of Edison, Kathy McGrath and her husband Jim of Edison, Nancy Kryskowiak and her husband Michael of Fords, and Trish Shannon Latham and her husband Michael of Edison; six grandchidren, Kelly, Jimmy, Dennis, Michael, Caitlin, and Kevin; two sisters, Sister Regina Ann Shannon of Elizabeth, and Dolores "Jean" Patete of Florida; and his dog, Molly.

Visitation will be from from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24 from the funeral home. Entombment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
