Thomas H. Devane, 79, of Fords, passed peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the JFK Medical Center, Edison.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he had resided in Fords for the last 40 years.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960 and then pursued a 44 year career in the Telecommunications industry with RCA Globecom, MCI, and Verizon.

He was an active communicant at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Holy Name Society.  He was a charter member and Past Grand Knight of the OLP Knights of Columbus Council #9199.  As well as Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus St. Cecelia Council # 3639.

Mr. Devane was predeceased by his brother and sister –in –law, Teddy and Susan Devane. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Nora, his four children, Mary and her husband John Hannan of Somers, NY, Catherine of Woodbridge, Thomas and his wife Allison Chiarelli of Florham Park and Bridget and her husband John Weber of Bradley Beach, six grandchildren, Jack, Maggie, Hans, Francesca, Nora, and Antonia, his two siblings; Donald and his wife Kathi Devane of Fairfax, VA and Patricia and her husband Robert Bell of Brooklyn, NY and many nieces and nephews.

He was an avid fan of the New York Football Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, Mets, Knicks and Rangers.  He enjoyed many a Tuesday playing golf with the Knights Escape Senior Golf group.  He helped coach many of his children's sports teams and was their biggest fan.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church Fords, interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn NY.
