Thomas E. Andersen 91 of Hopelawn, entered into eternal rest, April 24, 2016 at his home. He was born in South Amboy and was formerly of Fords before moving to Hopelawn 48 years ago.
Thomas was an Electrical Engineering Draftsman at NL Industries in Sayreville for 35 years until the plant closed, and he permanently retired in 1984.
He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WW II.
Thomas was a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy. He was also a life member of the Hopelawn First Aid Squad, a member of the American Legion post #87 in Woodbridge, the VFW post # 1352 in Hopelawn, and the Market Square Seniors.
Thomas was predeceased by his son William A. in 1996, and his brother Edward. He is survived by his wife Jane M. Jorgensen Andersen, his son Thomas P. Andersen and his wife Theresa, five grandchildren Karen and her fiancé Andrew, Thomas P. Jr. and his wife Nora, Stephanie, William and his partner Joe, and Ryan and his wife Courtney, two great grandchildren Hunter and Lainie, and his sister Lois Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by an 11 am service at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-8 pm.
