Obituary

Theodosia Eskow passed away peacefully on November 5, 2017, the day of her 107 th birthday. Born in Hungary in 1910 to Moritz and Rose Katz, Theodosia (Theo) was raised in New Brunswick, NJ.  She married Dr. Jack Eskow in 1940 and resided in Perth Amboy where she lived until 2013 when she moved to Livingston to live with her son, Dr. Robert Eskow and his wife, Nancy.

Theo was the Editorial Assistant for the Journal of the Medical Society of New Jersey.  After rearing her children, Theo worked for over twenty-five years as the office manager for her husband's dental practice.  She was an active member of the Perth Amboy Woman's Club, a charter member of the Perth Amboy League of Women Voters, a life member of Hadassah, and a member of Congregation Beth Mordecai and its Sisterhood.  She was an ardent reader of nonfiction and read The Wall Street Journal from cover to cover daily until she was almost 106.  A lifelong learner and autodidact, she was an extraordinarily intelligent and knowledgeable woman who could quote Shakespeare and the Bible, debate about present-day politics, and entertain family and friends with stories and jokes until the very end of her long life.  Above all, Theo was a thoughtful and giving person who shared her wisdom and sage advice with family and friends.

Theo was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Jack, in 1999 and by seven brothers and a sister.  She is survived by her sons, Dr. Robert (Nancy) of Livingston, NJ, and Dr. Roy (Julie) of Potomac, MD.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Renee, Darren (Heather Mitchell), Shawn (Rebecca), Adam (Caroline), and Kimberly Sobel (Aaron) and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at 12:30 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Interment will follow in Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge.  Memorial donations may be made to Mazon or a charity of your choice.
