Theodore "Ted" Simkin, 94, passed away on June 21, 2015 at his home in Boca Raton, FL.
He was born in Perth Amboy, resided in Metuchen before moving to Florida in the 1990's. Ted attended Perth Amboy public schools, graduating High School in 1938, and then graduating from NYU in 1942. He served in the US Army during WWII.
After leaving the Army, Ted joined his family business, Charles Simkin and Sons Construction.
He worked tirelessly on the planning and implementation that led to the construction of Congregation Neve Shalom in Metuchen. Ted served on many committees in the congregation. His commitment extended to the secular community, as well. He served on the Metuchen Planning Board, was the lay member of the New Jersey State Medical board and on the Middlesex County Utilities Commission.
Ted was predeceased by his wife, Janice in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Elayne Greene, his daughter, Margery, of Los Angeles, CA, his son, Fred, and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Somerset and his grandson, David.
Funeral services will be at 1PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave., Perth Amboy.
Committal service will be at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
