Sylvia (Govostes) Kress, 94, of Edison, passed away on September 20, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Boston, MA, she was a resident of Edison for 50 plus years.  Sylvia and her husband Thomas had owned and operated The Edison Motor Lodge, Edison for many years.  Sylvia was a very active member of her church, St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy.  She ran a fashion show for the church for many years, was an organizer of St. Demetrios Greek Festival, was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club, member of the Daughters of Penelope National Society and was also an active fund raiser for St. Basil's Academy, Garrison, NY.  In addition, Sylvia also loved to travel.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Thomas Kress (2011) and her brother Angelo Govostes.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Simeon Bogiages, Nicholas Bogiages, Barbara Bogiages Murphy, George Kress and Carol Antonius; and many great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 8:45 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords followed by a Service of Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM with a Trisagion Service at 6 PM.
