Obituary

Steven Christopher Breeze (aged 63yrs) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his devoted family, in Metuchen, NJ on March 27, 2023 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Steve was born on October 14, 1959 in Stourbridge, England, to Ronald and Eileen Breeze.  An only child, he was cherished by his parents who provided him with a wonderful childhood full of adventure and fun.    As with most young boys, he joined the Cub Scouts and took pleasure in learning how to make a campfire, ties knots and how to be a good citizen!  One of his abiding memories of his childhood was spending a summer building a canal narrowboat with his parents and then spending countless weekends and summer vacations gently sailing along the English canals. Another resounding memory is the time he tried to trick his Mom after a chemistry experiment gone awry melted her favorite ceiling tiles!

Graduating from High Park School in 1978, he attended Staffordshire University where he studied Information Technology.  He went on to have a full career in the field, working at first in the UK and then for the past 28 years in the United States, latterly at JP Morgan Chase as a VP Information Systems/PM.  Steve was known for being a dedicated, hard worker and a caring, motivational, inspirational Manager.  He prided himself on being a strong support for his team, who were devoted in turn.

With Julie, his wife of 32yrs, Steve emigrated to the United States in 1995 and settled in Metuchen, NJ where they raised two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) and Sophie.  He was a hands-on Daddy, and nothing made him happier than helping coach their little league teams, attending all their school concerts, joining in the fun at Daddy-Daughter date night for 16 straight years and participating in any number of school activities.  His 'bread and butter pudding' contribution to International Day was a massive hit!!    Steve was absolutely devoted to his girls, who were the center of his universe.  He was so proud of Beth graduating with an LLB law degree from The University of Nottingham in England, followed by a master's degree in management from the University of York.    He loved that Sophie chose to attend Florida State University where she is currently a Junior.  GO NOLES!

Throughout his life Steve forged many friendships, but none were more special and deeper than those he built with Sharon and Jerome Taylor, and Kathy and Bill Hamilton-Sedlack.   Together with their children Kira, Sache and Jenna, they became 'family' and created treasured memories, spending holidays together, vacationing, camping, building traditions such as their Sunday Dinners and supporting each other through the ups and downs of life!  Steve loved nothing more than a feisty political debate over Sunday Dinner while Julie rolled her eyes and raised the hurricane shutters over her ears!   He will be deeply missed by Sharon, Jerome, Kira, Sache, Kathy, Bill, and Jenna, as well as the many other friends he was blessed with.

Steve is survived by his wife, Julie, and his daughters, Beth (& fiancé Oliver) of Wakefield, UK and Sophie, of  Metuchen, NJ who loved him unconditionally;  his brother- and sister-in-law, Leslie and Paula Pashley of Hull, England; his nephews Andrew and Michael Pashley and their newborn daughter Angel Rose, of Kingswood, England; his niece Ellie Pashley (& fiancé Connor) of Hull, England;  Sister-in-Law Daphne Pashley of South Cave, England;  nephew Christopher Pashley &  wife Annabelle Hoggard (Canada) and niece Zoe Pashley & husband Luke Jackson (Australia), Aunt Muriel Jones of Ilkley, Yorkshire, and beloved canine companion Obee Bruno Breeze, III.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Eileen Breeze of Stourbridge, England;  his parents-in-law, James and Florence Pashley of Thorngumbald, England, and his brother-in-law Gary Pashley of Thorngumbald, England.

He was loved and cherished by all who knew him!
