Obituary

Steve E. Ceykovsky, 97, of Edison passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Hackensack Meridian Medical Center/JFK Medical Center, Edison.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he resided in Carteret for 55 years before moving to Edison in 2008. Steve was a Navy and Army veteran of the Korean War and World War II.  He was a hospital corpsman and the ship's photographer on the new hospital ship the USS Consolation, and was awarded a personalized plank on the ship as a member of the first crew.  After his stint in the Navy, he served in the Army for seven years stationed in France and Germany.  He was awarded a WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Germany.

Steve was retired from the Exxon Bayway Refinery in Linden.  He was also a member of the Carteret Volunteer First Aid Squad for many years, and served as Captain in the 1960's.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anisia Kolibas Ceykovsky in 2015.  He was also preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Olsavsky Ceykovsky, his brother John, sisters Anne Johnson, Sister M Beatrice MSC, Julia Peters and Mary Miller.

Steve is survived by his beloved daughter Danica Turko; adored grandchildren Christopher Turko (Debra Papalia) and Kimberlee Hooper (Sidney); cherished great-grandchildren Logan Valerie, and Matthew Sidney. He is also survived by a beloved niece Bernadette Anderson and her husband Ron of Carlisle, PA, and several other nieces and nephews.

Cremation will take place privately.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Fords.
