Stephen W. Valladares, 54, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on April 5, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Old Bridge for the past year. Stephen was a 26 year veteran of the New York Fire Department, retiring in 2017 as a Lieutenant with the Emergency Medical Service Command. He was the recipient of multiple commendations for his work with the F.D.N.Y. including 5 life-saving awards, 16 Letters of Commendation, several employee of the month awards, and a World Trade Center Survivor Commendation.
In addition to his work with the F.D.N.Y., Stephen served as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the 61
st
Precinct Auxiliary Patrol Support Unit. While serving his community, he received 2 Unit Citations, 4 Public Service Awards, 2 Certificates of Accomplishment, a Commendable Performance Award, a WTC Commendation Ribbon and ten year award.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist during peacetime.
He was a member of the EMS Officer's Union, the F.D.N.Y. Local 3621, DC-37 AFSCME, AFL-CIO.
Stephen is survived by his brother, Neil Valladares and his wife, MayLynn, of Fords and his sister, Lorraine Clark and her husband, Robert, of Edison; and his nephews and nieces, Christopher (Kelsey), Kevin (Christine), Megan (Michael), Alexandra, William and Abigail; and a great-nephew, Jaxon.
A memorial visitation is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Inurnment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
