Private funeral services were held Monday, November 7, 2016, for Stephen J. Matyi, 81, formerly of Edison, who passed Friday November 4, 2016 at the Virtua-Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly.

A veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force, Stephen had retired in 1992, after many years with GATX of Carteret as a meter mechanic.

He was a member of the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union, and a former member of the Clara Barton American Legion Post # 324, Edison.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann (2003) and his siblings, Eleanor Giordano and Richard Matyi.

Stephen leaves behind his two beloved sons, Robert (Carmelita) of NY and John (Stacie) of Pemberton, two grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey a brother, John of Menlo Park Terrace and two sisters, Lillian Smith of Sewaren and Janet Hoff of Toms River.
