Obituary of Stefan Ifko


Stefan Ifko, 92, of Hopelawn, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Mr. Ifko was born in Velka Polana, Slovenia , to the late John and Helen Ifko and has resided in Hopelawn for the past fifty-seven years.
He was employed by the Piscataway Board of Education as a custodian for nineteen years, before retiring in 1992.
Stefan was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish- Most Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn and also of the Sunday Morning Rosary Group.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Albina M. Ifko in 2016.
Surviving are his loving son Steven Ifko and wife Priscilla of Piscataway, his sister Geza Horvath of Slovenia, and his two nieces Mitzi Hozjan and Rose Hozjan.
Funeral services will be held 9 am Thursday, at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 9:30 am mass at the Most Holy Rosary RC Church in Hopelawn. Entombment will follow in the Good Shepherd Chapel Mausoleum at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm.
