Stanley E
Szylar , Sr.
September 24, 1952 – June 2, 2023
Stanley E. Szylar, Sr., 70, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in Somerset.
Born and raised in Newark, he was one of three children of Tadeusz and Katarzyna Szylar. As a youth, his brother remembers him enjoying the time he spent at the YMCA summer camps and excelled in boxing. When he got a little older he tried his hand at carpet installation and owning his own carpet installation business for a while, but eventually went to work for Anheuser-Busch in Newark where he worked in operations. While working for Anheuser-Busch he was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #896 until he retired in 2010. A lover of Atlantic City, Stanley liked trying his luck at gambling a bit and "playing the ponies" at the racetrack. More than anything else he got great joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Stanley E. Szylar, Jr. (1995) and his beloved wife, Sharon in 2009. He is survived by his two sons: Jason, his wife Stephanie, Christopher, and his wife Rachel; grandchildren: Brian, Abigail, Mallory, Tristan, Brienne, and Nicole; brother: John Szylor; and sister: Helen Szylar.
