Obituary

Stanley Marshall Slobodien, who spent a fondly remembered childhood in Perth Amboy and more than 50 years in Metuchen, NJ, passed away on November 22 at the age of 95. A proud graduate of Rutgers, he served as a Navy officer  aboard the U.S.S. Leyte during the Korean War. Stan was a member of the American Stock Exchange, an ardent supporter of Rutgers athletics, and a tennis enthusiast who also enjoyed poker with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Anna, and his son Robert. He is survived by his wife Gail, his children Andrew, Lynn (Kevin), and Janet (Evan), and his five grandchildren Maya, Zach, Anya, Cecil, and Margot. He was a friend to all he met, and the love and kindness he brought to his family, friends, and community will be missed.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, November 24, 2025  at Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
