Stanley Plodzien, 86, of Whiting, passed away peacefully at Community Medical Center in Toms River on December 17, 2014. He was born in Jersey City on May 7, 1928. He resided in Menlo Park Terrace for many years before moving to Whiting 12 years ago. Stanley was an Industrial Mechanic for Ball Glass in Jersey City and Carteret. He was a member of the AFL-CIO. Stanley was an active member in St. Cecelia's Church in Iselin. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Alter Rosary Society. Stanley was a fan of the NY Yankees and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. He also enjoyed woodworking, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Pellettiere, in 2011.
Stanley is survived by the love of his life, "Jennie" his wife of 62 years, Jeannette (nee Zalewski) Plodzien of Whiting; two daughters, Dianne Kollien of Milford, PA; Linda Concitis and her husband Bob of Parlin; son, Stanley Plodzien and his wife Erika of Plainfield, IL; nine grandchildren: Dawn, Bill, Michael, Richard, Robert, Danny, Jessica, Calista and Trevor; four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Justin, Audrey and Allesandra.
Visitation will be Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Monday, 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by an 11:15 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Cecelia's Church. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
