Spencer A
Sarnoff
August 18, 1939 – August 8, 2025
Spencer A. Sarnoff, 85 of Somerset, NJ, passed peacefully with the love of his family at his side on Friday August 8, 2025. Spencer grew up in Highland Park and graduated Highland Park High in 1957. While serving his country for 6 years in the Air National Guard, Spencer completed his undergraduate and master's degree in special education at the College of New Jersey. He went on and lived a wonderful life filled with love and happiness with his devoted wife, Hannah, of 61 years. While raising his family, Spencer was involved in his community as an executive board member and coach in North Edison Little League and past Assistant Treasurer of Temple Emanual, Edison. Spencer retired in 2000 as an elementary school teacher for 34 years with the Piscataway Board of Education. A devoted Giants and Yankees fan, world traveler, history buff, and the biggest fan of the "Christmas in July" movies on the Hallmark Channel. As a founding member of the Costco "Umbrella Club" he would meet his Highland Park friends on Monday's for a hot dog and chit chat. Spencer had an infectious personality that made it easy to make friends as you were easily drawn to his charm, gentle soul, and unmatched sense of humor. But he was best known for the immense adoration and love for his family, and it was common to see him at his grandchildren's soccer games, school events, and dance recitals.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Hannah M. Sarnoff, his son Michael (& Stacy) Sarnoff of Fair Haven, NJ, his daughter Stacey Levin ( & Ross) of Summit, NJ, his 4 cherished grandchildren, Kylie and Sophie Levin and Sienna and Drew Sarnoff and his sister, Maxine Berlin of MA. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Irving and Fay Sarnoff and his brother Jordan Sarnoff.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday August 13, 2025 in the Chapel at Beth Israel Memorial Park Mausoleum, Woodbridge, NJ. Friends and family may meet directly at Beth Israel for the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave Metuchen, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: American Diabetes Association
