Sophie Patricia Martiak, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on November 5, 2012 with her loving family by her side.
Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Fords before moving to Edison 32 years ago. Sophie and her husband Stephen, a 50 year member of the IBEW Local 456, owned and operated Martiak Confectionary Store for 15 years in Fords. She retired from Prudential Insurance Company in Iselin 14 years ago where she worked in their Food Service Division.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen of 63 years, son Peter and brothers Stanley and Henry Myslinsky. She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Pecht of Edison and Lorraine O'Prandy of Fords; two sons, Stephen Martiak Jr. of Marlboro and Wayne Martiak of Point Pleasant; a sister Irene of Landisville Pennsylvania, brother Edward of Barnegat; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be held Friday November 9, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 to 8:30 am at Flynn and Son Funeral Home; 319 Amboy Avenue in Metuchen. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00am on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen and entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophie's memory can be made to the American Red Cross for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
