Sophie (nee: Gurchak) Johns, 99 of Parlin, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge.

She was born in Port Blanchard, PA and has been a resident of Parlin since 1955.

She was a long time communicant of St Bernadette RC Church in Parlin.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James H. Johns, Jr. who died November 11, 2011, her son-n-law Gary Wanca who died in October of 2004 and her great granddaughter, Garilys who died in September of 2021.

She leaves behind her two beloved sons, James H. Johns, III and his wife Faye, of North Carolina, and William Johns and his wife Laura of South Amboy, her two daughters, Peggy Nuber and her husband Clifford of Fords, and JoAnn Wanca of Millstone Twp., NJ, her 7 dear grandchildren Steven and Robert Nuber, Stephanie, Tiffani, Michael, and Jimmy Johns and Marissa Wanca, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 5pm to 7 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 9 am from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Bernadette RC Church in Parlin. Interment will follow at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
