Sophie B. Burns (nee Asmonda ), 93, of Perth Amboy, died Monday October 6, 2025, at home.  Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident. She was a very active longtime Parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church and was a member of the Altar Rosay Society and Senior Citizens Organization. She was a School Crossing Guard in Perth Amboy for 40 years, retiring in 2012.

She was the daughter of the late Mary (nee Poszilni ) and John Asmonda and was the sister of the late Joseph Asmonda.

Sophie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Joseph H. Burns; her daughter, Colleen Ann Simon and her husband, Michael; her two sons, Thomas and his wife, Dana, and Joseph and his wife, Nora. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to her caregiver Anna.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ, 08863 followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish on Florida Grove Road in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
