Sonya S. Tilp , 89, of Edison, passed away on May 29, 2018 at JFK Medical Center, Edison.  She was born in South River and had resided in Edison since 1950.  Sonya was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, an enthusiastic gardener who loved flowers, and was an avid reader.

Sonya was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1996; her brother, Nicholas; and her sisters, Mary, Diane and Elizabeth.

Surviving are her son, John and his wife, Martine, of Los Angeles; her daughters, Deborah Ziolkowski and her husband, Charles, of Edison and Susanne Tilp and her husband, Ethan, of Mill Valley, CA.; her grandchildren: Rebecca, Ian, David, Heather and Gabriel; her great-grandchildren: Ella, Luna, Bradley, Anthony, Ava, and Joey;  her brother, Raymond; and many nephews and nieces.

Viewing will be on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 PM, at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
