Obituary

Shirley Ann Mahoney, 73, of Edison, passed peacefully on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Parker Home at River Road in Piscataway, NJ. Born in Colver, PA, she had resided in Edison since 1966. She was a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, PA with the "Class of 1966". She was a former secretary with Arnold Graham Certified Public Accountants in Highland Park, NJ and Ferrara & Christina CPAs of Metuchen, NJ for a combined 25 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Frank and Anna Lapczynski and her brothers: John, Robert and Thomas Lapczynski.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 48 years, James "Tom" Mahoney, and her 3 loving children: James C. Mahoney of Denver CO; Colleen Ann Mahoney of Lakewood, CO; and Ryan P. Mahoney of Rockport, TX; her sisters, Janet Slatko and Irene Sass both of Colver, PA; her brother, Edward Lapczynski, of Cresson, PA; and her faithful grand-puppy "Tessa".
Shirley was a 20+ year member of the Terra Nova Garden Club of Edison and an enthusiastic home gardener. She also loved to spend days at the pool swimming and getting tanned with her good friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840, with a prayer service at 8:00 PM.
Cremation will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis TN at Stjude.org .
