Shirley (nee: Bonis) Konowicz , 88, of Albany, NY, passed peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY. She was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ , where she had resided for 81 years before moving to Albany.
A graduate from Perth Amboy High School in 1943, Shirley was employed with the Margaretten Mortgage Co. and later with Chase Bank until her retirement in 1997. In her retirement she continued to enjoy volunteering at her church and spending time with family and friends. She was a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy.
Predeceased by her husband, Walter Konowicz who died in 1970, and her brother Melvin Bonis, Jr., She leaves behind her two daughters, Alexis Mazza and her husband, Harry of Albany, NY and Cheryl Thayer and her husband Timm of Harriman, TN, her granddaughter, Kelsey Thayer of Schenectady, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.
