Shirley Ann Garaffa, 84, of Metuchen, passed away on April 2, 2024, at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.  She was born on October 1, 1939, in Mount Holly, NJ, to Elmer and Mae Green.  Shirley resided in Menlo Park Terrace for the past 22 years with beloved son and caretaker, Jerry.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of decorating – especially with Betty Boop memorabilia -- and the simple pleasure she took from watching reruns of the Waltons and taping figure skating competitions.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2000; her sister, Mary Reed; and her brothers: George, Alfred, Stanley, Elmer, Charley and Harold "Happy" Green.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Peterson and Cynthia Garaffa; her son, Jerry Garaffa; her grandson, Casey Peterson; her great-granddaughter, Gianna Peterson; her sisters: Dorothy Hopkins, Rae Harker, Delores Anderson and Janet Lowther; and her nieces and nephews.

A cryptside service under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ,  will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Clover Leaf Memorial Park Mausoleum, Route 1, Woodbridge.
