Dr. Samuel Bernard Galkin, 83, of Edison, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park.

He was born in Newark and was formerly of Colonia.

He served as a dentist in the US Navy.

He retired from his Orthodontics practice in 2005 after serving the community for over 43 years and proud to leave his practice in the hands of his son Scott.

He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut, his D.D.S. from Temple University and orthodontics degree from the University of Illinois.

He was a classic car collector, a member of the NJ Dental Association and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.

He leaves behind four children, Dr. Scott D. Galkin and his wife Dana of Little Silver, Seth Galkin of Parlin, and Jamie and Richard Galkin, his two grandchildren, Jacob and Julianna and one brother, Edwin Galkin of Edison.

Funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Flynn and son Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Saddle Brook NJ.
Shiva will be observed this evening at Seth Galkin's residence, in the Parlin section of Sayreville following funeral services.
