Obituary

Ruth ( nee: Schwarzman) McGuire, nicknamed "Perry" age 91, passed away on February 28th after living with Alzheimer's for 5+ years.
She was born and raised in Newark and had resided there until moving to Metuchen in 1973.
She loved growing up in Newark, where families and friends lived closer and could see each other more often.
She especially loved to reminisce about the days spent on Littleton Avenue, growing up for a period, in a kosher home and then getting a taste of some of Jersey's Italian food and hot dogs.
She used to go to Olympic Park and was a very good roller skater. Ruth also enjoyed going out dancing and going on trips to Atlantic City.
She married Richard McGuire and worked at RCA until they became pregnant and then she became a stay at home mom.
When her daughter became a teenager, she went back to work, at local factory/warehouse positions.
She loved the simple things in life.  A good cup of coffee, especially first thing in the morning, and always with something sweet.
She enjoyed baking and was very good at it.
She had a lot of energy and was always cleaning her house, and organizing it and spent some time "sweating to the oldies" with Richard Simmons.
She loved it when family and friends came to visit and she would feed them.
She loved being a grandmother and all the times spent with her cherished granddaughters.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Shirley Schwarzman and her late husband, Richard McGuire, who died in November of 1995.

Ruth leaves behind her beloved daughter, Lynn McGuire Holmes, her son-in-law Gregg Holmes, her two dear granddaughters; Loran Holmes and Kyra Holmes, her niece, Lisa Schwarzman Dix and grandnephew, Reginald Dix.

She was very grateful for those that kept in touch through the later years, via phone calls and visits; especially her sisters-in-law; Ella and Joanie, cousins; Andrew, Eileen/Fred, Felicya, Jerry/Jessie, Sammy and Za.
