Ruth (Gruman) Rothman, 87, of Jackson, passed away at Monmouth Medical Center South on February 8, 2023.

She was born on January 18, 1936, in Bronx, NY, and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. Ruth and her husband Stan raised their family in Colonia, NJ, where she was an active member of Temple Ohev Shalom and the Colonia Hadassah. Ruth taught at Linden High School, worked as a Retail Manager, and was the Owner/Operator of Initial Ideas in Colonia. She was a proud graduate of Douglass College, Class of 1957. Ruth was known by her family and friends for her baking & cooking, her gracious hosting, and her always warm and friendly demeanor.  She enjoyed bird watching, knitting, sewing & needlework, and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Stanley Rothman, of Jackson; her two daughters, Reena DeSimone and her husband , Joe, of Lanoka Harbor; and Judi Osbahr and her husband, Robert, of Old Bridge; her son, Dan Rothman and his wife, Sharon, of Atlantic Highlands; her seven grandchildren: Michelle, Crissie, Matthew, Ryan, Hannah, Casey and Dylan; her three great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Raelyn and Hudson; and her sister, Gittel Footerman of Highland Park.

The family will receive mourners Friday, February 10, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 am in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery.
