Obituary

Rudolph S. Droppa, 89, of Edison, passed away at home on August 30, 2013. He was born in Newark on April 17, 1924. He has resided in Edison for the last 59 years. Rudolph was a Machinist For Magnus Tool and Die in Mountainside for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a communicant of St. Matthews Church in Edison. He managed and umpired for Midtown Little League. Rudy had an ever-present smile and quick wit. He enjoyed reading history and discussing politics and could often be found tinkering in his workshop or tending to his backyard garden. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren, for whom he always found the time to share his love and a good story.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Czajkowski, in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine M. Droppa (nee Wenda), of Edison; son, Thomas R. Droppa and his wife Alyssa of Staten Island; four grandchildren: Jon, Taylor, Sophie, and Olivia; son-in-law, Ronald Czajkowski of Somerville; and brother, Emil Droppa, of New Hampshire.

Visitation will be Monday, September 2, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Matthews Church in Edison. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
