Roy G. Bentzen, 68, of Highland Lakes, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2023, surrounded by his family at home.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Staten Island, Fords, and Edison before moving to Highland Lakes in 1987.  He was a Salesman for Unitor Marine Shipping Supplies in Bayonne.

Roy loved spending time with his family and especially his Grandson Logan.  When he wasn't with his family, you could find him riding his bicycle around Highland Lakes. Roy was very social and would start conversations with everyone he saw along the way.  He was always making people laugh, and kids tended to gravitate toward his youthful energy. Roy's favorite things to do were weightlifting, boxing, fitness, and anything that would keep him active.  He would play flag football games on the weekend with friends of all ages.  Roy was always ready to help someone in need and help those that were unable to help themselves. His heart was genuine which impacted everyone around him. Roy was larger than life and his presence will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by parents Helen and Roy Bensen and his stepbrother, Richard Larsen.

Roy is survived by his wife, Joanne, of 47 years; his sons, Roy and Christopher; his grandson, Logan; his sister, Victoria Bentzen Errigo and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 9:00 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, followed by a 9:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords.
