Rosemary "Rockie"
Cwalinski
May 18, 1945 – March 1, 2025
Our time together was not long enough. Rosemary Lucanegro Cwalinski, better known as "Rockie," passed on March 1, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Now our hearts are hurting as a loving, caring, uniquely gracious woman has left us. Rockie and Sax fell in love in 1965, and established their home in Edison, NJ. Thereafter, they spent decades sharing and building a life together- sometimes it was a bit of a whirlwind, sometimes it was a bit chaotic, but it was always filled with happiness and love. With open arms, Rockie welcomed all into her home, and they were forever touched by her warmth and generous spirit. She enjoyed their nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her very own. Fore anyone fortunate to have been within their large circle of friends and relatives, they knew the Cwalinski home was a happening place. Rockie was at the center always making sure everyone was relaxing with a drink and definitely well-fed. Endless good times were enjoyed with much laughter and great stories of days gone by. Rockie was truly a "rock." She was the caregiver for Saxon's father, Steve, in his aging years, and later had been dedicated to caring for Sax with his disabilities. She made a place in their home for any friend who was without and lent a sympathetic ear and hugs when needed. Out "Rock" was truly the perfect friend. Professionally, she was an integral part of the Research and Planning Department of Middlesex County College for over 37 years.
Rockie was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Nicholas Lucanegro, her sister Theresa Tarn, and brother Nicholas Lucanegro. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Saxon Cwalinski of Edison; two sisters, Marion Byrd of Edison, and Patricia Nardone of Berkeley Heights; a brother John Lucanegro and Julie of Colonia; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ. Cremation will take place privately. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Rockie's memory to the Rescue and Welfare Trust Fund of the Bull Terrier Club of America, c/o Anna McColl, Treasuer, 434 Kelso Mulberry Rd., Mulberry, TN 37359
