Ronald J. Hoyda, 71, of Fords entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at his home after a long illness.

He was born in Perth Amboy and has resided in Fords for the past 39 years. Ronald retired in 2002 as a Social Studies and English teacher at the Iselin Middle School. 13 years prior to that he taught at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and then Edison High School a total of 23 years. His Coaching career spanned his teaching career, coaching with Vincent Capraro and the Edison Eagles football team from '66 to '79, winning the State Championship in '76. He also coached with Mike Krychowecky and the Edison Eagles baseball team from the mid '70's to '85, winning State Championships in '81 and '82. While still teaching, he then went to coach football at Princeton University '80 and '81 and Upsala College '82 thru '85. He returned to coaching high school football and baseball in Woodbridge Township from 1989 to 2000.

Ron graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1958 and received his degree from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in 1965 and his Master's Degree from Seton Hall in 1977.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Sophia (Maskowita) Hoyda. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole A. Grover Hoyda; father of two sons, Roger of Fords and Kevin and his wife Suzanne, of Easton, PA; two grandchildren, the joys of his life, Matthew and Sydney; his sister, Joann Hoyda Camp and her husband Terry of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, with a parastas service during the evening hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to a charity of ones choice.
