Ronald J.
Durlock
May 27, 1930 – September 28, 2025
Ronald J. Durlock, 95, of Metuchen, passed away at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Ajo, Arizona, to Charles and Mary Durlock and lived in Metuchen for the past 60 years.
He attended the Newark School of Engineering and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his return from service, he worked for Industrial Welding in Newark, where he met the love of his life, Joan. He later went on to work for Guyon, Harrison, a Metallurgy Manufacturer, before establishing his long, successful career as a carpenter in the local eastern district.
Ronald was a member of Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords, and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus #639 Iselin.
Outside of his passion and dedication to his family and career, he was a great lover of the outdoors and charity work. He was a lifetime fly-fisherman and enjoyed his memberships in a variety of member clubs. His family often enjoyed taking day trips with him to Round Valley, where Ron would gleefully spend time fishing with friends and family on his boat. He additionally spent time helping veterans and persons with special needs through various charities.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Joan of 69 years; his daughters, Karen Badenhorst and Suzanne Marshall; his son, Robert J. Durlock and daughter-in-law, Alyson; his grandchildren, Tamara Marshal and her husband, Alex Lenz, Adam Badenhorst and his wife Emi, Daria Marshall and her husband Stan Fling and Rachael Badenhorst; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Amira, Orsola and Charlotte; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10:30 AM Catholic Prayer Service at the funeral home. Cremation services will follow privately.
