Robert William Tarr, 74, of Little Egg Harbor, formerly of Fords, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his family on April 23, 2026. He was born on May 7, 1951, in Perth Amboy. Robert was a former English Teacher at Perth Amboy High School. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1969, and earned both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Louisiana State University. Robert was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid LSU fan.
Robert was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Tarr, in 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cynthia Tarr, of Little Egg Harbor; a son, Joseph T. Tarr MD, PhD, daughter-in-law, Kimberly, and grandson, Oliver of Bergenfield; a sister, JoAnn Orosz, and her husband, Ron, of Manchester; a brother, Richard Tarr, and his wife, Denise, of Westtown, NY; sister-in-law, Patricia Taros, of Cranford; and sister-in-law Gale DeBoer, and her husband, John of, Little Egg Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863 on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, at 9:15am at the funeral home, followed by a 10 am Service of Divine Liturgy at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy.
Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
