On Wednesday, November 7th, Robert (Bob) Cimmino 50, of Frenchtown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at Overlook Hospital in Summit, after a brief illness. Bob was born on December 4, 1967 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He was a loving and devoted son to both of his parents, Frank and Majorie Cimmino (nee Simon).
Bob grew up in Edison, New Jersey attending JP Stevens High School. He graduated with high honors from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts & Photography. Bob had a successful career at Merck as a company photographer, where he won several awards for outstanding photography alongside his colleague Bill. Most recently, he worked for Magna-Power in Flemington, New Jersey where he formed a new network of friends of whom he spoke fondly.
Outside of work, Bob loved spending time with family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed vacationing on cruises and in Wildwood and the Outer Banks, delighting his family with his crab dinners and love of seafood. He was an avid reader. He also adored spending time with his many friends in Frenchtown and assisting dear friend Rosella with her business. Being an outdoorsman, Bob loved camping, kayaking, fishing, and crabbing, and enjoyed many summers camping with Tracy, his dear friend from college, and their group of friends.
In addition to his mother, Bob is survived by his brother Patrick Cimmino and sister-in-law Susan Cimmino, of Alexandria Township, New Jersey, several nieces and nephews including Ryan Cimmino (Nicole), Brennan Cimmino, Evan Cimmino, Amanda Mitzkewich (Travis), Alyssa Reindel (Taylor) and his grandniece Addalyn Mitzkewich. He is also survived by his former sister-in-law Patricia Cimmino, his aunt Veronica (Ronnie) Simon, cousins Michael Cimmino and his wife Lisa, Allen Simon, and Michele Matulonis and her husband Thomas. He is also survived by many other dear friends and family members who loved him and will miss him deeply.
Bob is predeceased by his father, Frank Cimmino, his Uncle Al (Alexander Simon), his Uncle Larry Cimmino, and his grandparents, Alexander and Josephine Simon and Patsy and Theresa Cimmino.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 6 pm to 9pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday morning beginning at 8:15 am followed by a 9 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral on the corner of main St. & Elm Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840.
