Obituary

Robert "Bob" Barry, 97, of Cherry Hill died Sunday, September 28, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Formerly of Edison, Robert was the beloved husband of Margaret "Marge" Barry and devoted father of Marianne (Steve) Springer of Haddonfield and Robert Barry Jr of Sarasota, Florida.  He was a devoted and jovial Grandfather/Pop Pop to Faith Hahn (Tim), Ashley Farhan, Jade and Shannon Barry, and John and Brynne Springer.  Robert is predeceased by his brother, Thomas (the late Dorothy) and his sisters Ann, Ellen (the late James), and Marie (the late John).  Loved by all his nieces and nephews.

Bob was born and raised in South Amboy to the late Anna and Thomas Barry.  He led quite an amazing life with his entrance into the Navy at the age of fifteen during World War II.  The honorably discharged sailor returned to Perth Amboy, where he met the love of his life, Marge.  Bob served as a journeyman and member of Ironworkers Local 373 (Perth Amboy).  He worked in this position for over 40 years.  Rather than the construction of highways and bridges, his most cherished task was the altar at Holy Trinity Church (Perth Amboy).  He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church (Fords) for over 30 years and a member of the Elks Lodge that was in Perth Amboy.

Bob raised his family in Edison and in his final years followed his family to Cherry Hill.  Bob spent his time serenading his beloved Marge and anyone who was in his company.  He was an avid fan of Notre Dame, the New York Giants, and the New York Yankees.  Throughout his life, Bob stressed the importance of family with his children and grandchildren, while sharing his childhood and Irish heritage.  He will be sorely missed for his humor, quirky behavior, and love for food.  He was a true icon to all that knew him.
