Robert R. Baldwin Sr., 79, of Hopelawn entered into eternal rest Tuesday at the Barbara E. Cheung Hospice in Edison after of brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Newark and has resided in Hopelawn for the past 76 years. Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean war and then worked as a Systems Technician at N.J. Bell in Woodbridge for 39 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodbridge, a member of the Bell Tel Retirees Inc., and the H. G. McCully Downstate Pioneers Chapter 81. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, crabbing, and working in his garden.
Robert was predeceased by his son, Randall C. Baldwin, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Toye Baldwin, to whom he was married for 49 years; his son, Robert R. Jr., of Allentown, PA; his daughter, Linda M. Sawicki and her husband Allan of Goodview, VA; daughter-in-law Lenka Baldwin of the Czech Republic; grandsons: Allan and Jason Sawicki; two brothers: Howard in Carteret and Fred of Woodbridge; and his sister, Evelyn Santa Maria of Avenel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 10:30 am with Rev. Robert Boyer officiating, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Iselin. Friends may call on Friday, April 29, from 4:00-8:00 pm.
