Riva Leah Mezey's Obituary
Riva Leah (Blumenfeld) Mezey, 102, of Edison, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at her home. Born in Brooklyn, Riva has been a resident of Edison since 1974.
Riva is predeceased by her husband Milton (1909 - 1992); and four sisters, Ethel, Gail, Lillian and Sadie. She is survived by her son, Michael Mezey and his wife Susan of Chicago; her daughter, Susan Glassberg and her husband Stephen of Metuchen; four grandchildren, Jennifer Mezey, Jason Mezey, Lori Schlosser and Brian Glassberg; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sheila.
Riva was an executive secretary with the New York City Police Department for over 25 years, retiring in 1972. After retirement, she volunteered for a number of community groups including Meals on Wheels.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Tuesday, May 28 at Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, followed by interment in Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 2600 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or www.cancer.org.
