Rita Angela Esten's Obituary
Rita Angela Esten (nee:Curris) " Starduster*, " 68 years, of Fords, passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.
She was born in Perth Amboy on February 18, 1954, and was a life-long resident of Woodbridge Township. She was a graduate of Woodbridge High School. Rita worked in retail for several years. She was employed by Two Guys, Bradlees, and Odd Lot department stores. Her last position was with Pearl Art & Craft Supplies in Woodbridge. She was also employed as a taxi driver for Eagle Cab in Carteret, NJ, and as an ice cream truck driver in Woodbridge Township.
Rita was very passionate about all genres of music. She was a talented singer and performed at Connie's Night Club in Sayreville for many years. Rita enjoyed drawing, painting, and writing poetry. She was fascinated by nature, loved animals and the world around her, both known and unknown.
She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia Soto; her step-father, Felix Soto; her brother, Anthony Soto and her son, Angelo Soto.
She leaves behind her daughter, Carly Qrow; her son, Jason Esten, and his wife, Jennifer; her four dear grandchildren: Daniel, Lara, Rebecca, and Jilliana all of Fords; and her sister, Lina Soto-Thomas of California.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. A Prayer Service will begin at 5:30 pm with Fr. James Tucker officiating.
