Obituary

Richard Wyzykowski 67, of Sewaren, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday February 26, 2013. He was born October 22, 1945 in Jersey City, and is formerly of Menlo Park Terrace, before moving to Sewaren 34 years ago.

Richard was a police officer with the Woodbridge Township Police Department for 26 years, 13 of which he worked in the DARE program, before retiring in 2003.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's RC Church in Port Reading and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member and Past Grand Knight at the Don Bosco Knights of Columbus, Council 5809,in Port Reading, Past Faithful Navigator and member of the Color Guard at John J. Griffin General Assembly 4th Degree 857 in Woodbridge, the American Legion Post 87 in Woodbridge, and the VFW Post 4410 in Woodbridge. He also served as Scout Master for Troop 31, in Port Reading, and was an associate member of the American Irish Assn.

Richard is survived by Dorothy Dunaj Wyzykowski, his wife of 41 years, his children Richard Wyzykowski Jr. of Sewaren, Sherrie Peake and her husband Michael of Port Reading, Jennifer Orzechowski and her husband Theodore of Franklin Park, his grandchildren Jason and Ryan Peake, and Julianna Orzechowski, and his siblings Donald Wyzykowski and his wife Maureen of Edison, Terry Lynch of Delray Beach, Fl., Dolores Rogozinski and Geri Roberts of Port Reading, and Lorraine Kau of Howell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 2, 2013, at 9:15 am, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10 am funeral liturgy at St. Anthony's R C Church, Port Reading. Entombment will be in Good Shepherd Mausoleum at St. Gertrude Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, February 28, 2013, 7-9 pm and Friday, March 1, 2013 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the American Heart Association.
