Richard Rhodes, 63, of Fords, passed away at home on November 15, 2023. He was born on October 15, 1960, in Jersey City. Richie was a retired Sergeant Detective from the Union City Police Department. He was a graduate of Union Hill High School, Class of 1978. He was a fan of the NY Giants and NJ Devils. He enjoyed making pizza and anything sourdough. He was an avid hiker and bike rider, cycling in Sandy Hook and on the Greenway.

Richie was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Arlene Rhodes, of Fords; a son, Matthew Rhodes and his wife, Sarah, of Magnolia, NJ; a grandson, Archer Rhodes; siblings, Priscilla Ramirez, and her husband, Manny, of Pulaski, VA; Judy Rhodes, of Ridgefield Park; George Rhodes and his wife, Janet, of Turnersville; Phyllis Cerka and her husband, Luke, of Union City; Dorothy Betancourt of Noth Arlington; and David Rhodes and his wife, Elena, of Elmwood Park; many nieces and nephews; countless friends; and his cat, G-man.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 am in the funeral home followed by a committal service at Rosehill Crematory.
