Obituary

Richard J. Mansfield, 89, of Sayreville, passed away on Thurs., Nov 22, 2012 – Thanksgiving Day – at home with his family.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was owner of La Roe Press, located on New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ, a business he started working at when he was 17 years old and purchased in 1958. In 1977, he acquired Logan Printing and ran the two businesses until his retirement in 1988.

While raising his family, he was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy. He was involved in the Perth Amboy community and served as Secretary of the Kiwanis Club.

A resident of Sayreville for over 60 years, he had a love of fun and new experiences and was the ultimate teacher – offering his children the gift of learning to golf, horseback ride, ski, sail, and a love of dance, music and literature.

He was predeceased this year by his sister Dorothy (Csokonay) O'Hara.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ervant (Simonian); his three daughters, Susan Mansfield Byrne and her husband John of Edison; Judith Young and her husband Dennis of Wall Township; Nora Masin and her husband Jerry of Colonia; and his three grandchildren, Jacquelyn & Gregory Young and Zachary Mansfield Masin.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 27th at 9:30 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, followed by a 10 AM service at the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Sayreville. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
