Richard Maccie, 82, of Metuchen, passed away on December 18, 2013, at JFK Medical Center. He was born, August 20, 1931 in Newark, NJ. He has resided in Metuchen since 1964. Richard worked as a scale master for the Middlesex County Utility Authority. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, T. Nutley Post in Iselin, NJ. and a member of the Newark VFW. He graduated East Side High School in Newark, Class of 1950. Richard enjoyed playing golf, bowling and shooting pool.
He was predeceased by his wife Marie Maccie in 1989 and his son Amil Maccie in 1990.
Richard is survived by his beloved partner of 24 years Ella Lapore of Metuchen; his six sons, Richard C. Maccie of NV; Gary R. Maccie and his wife Donna of CA; Michael A. Maccie and his wife Erin of CA; Joseph W. Maccie and his wife Darlene of Carteret; Anthony F. Maccie and his wife Valerie of Colonia; James P. Maccie of Metuchen; five grandsons, Gary; Brian; Joseph; Dennis; Ryan, brother, Amil Maccie of West Orange; sister, Geraldine Zoccli. He was also fond of his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Monday 9:15 at the funeral home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Cecelia's Church in Iselin. Cremation will be private
