Obituary

Richard C. Lake Sr. of Metuchen passed peacefully at his home on April 12, Richard is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Melnik Lake and their children, daughter Debra Lake Hecht, her husband Robert, their daughter Josiane, her husband Wesley Rogers, their children, Gracin and Hudson Rogers, their son Jerrad, his wife Elizabeth Hecht, their children Kaitlynn and Kyle Sanders, son Richard C. Lake Jr., his wife Judy and son Ronald Lake, his wife Deborah, their children Allen Conrad, Seth Mack, Curtis, his wife Ashley and their son Easton Conrad.

Richard served his country honorably in WWII as a radio operator on PT Boats in the South Pacific.  After the war, Mr. Lake married Dorothy Melnik of Woodbridge.  Richard continued his community service as a long-serving member of the Metuchen First-Aid Squad, a life-long member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, a life-long member of the American Legion Fugle Hummer Post 65, a life-long member of the Mason's Mount Zion Lodge No. 135, served as a Boy Scout Leader and Little League Baseball Coach for many years.   Richard was a dedicated Civil Servant, holding numerous positions in the U.S. Postal Service, eventually retiring from his lengthy career having attained the position of Assistant Post Master to become Manager of the Postal Federal Credit Union until fully retired.

Graveside service will be held in Hillside Cemetery, located in Metuchen, on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:45am.
