Hajzer
August 11, 1937 – April 12, 2025
Richard S. Hajzer, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. He was 87. Born in Perth Amboy, Richard was the son of Emery and Anna (Bali) Hajzer. He lived his life in the city of Perth Amboy before moving to Rossmoor 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Perth Amboy Vocational School. After graduating, Richard served his country and joined the United States Army. He was employed as Tool and Dye Maker for General Motors at the Hyatt Roller Bearing Division for 30 years. He then worked with White Westinghouse which then became Frigidaire in Edison.
Richard was a longtime parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish, at which he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was awarded Holy Name Man of the Year. He was also a former member of Our Lady of Hungary Church.
Predeceasing Richard are his parents Emery and Anna (Bali) Hajzer and his siblings: Helen Pavlics, Anna Leone, Mary Yanoso, Margaret Neal, Irene Fuzak, Valerie Breyta, Elsie Hardish, Emery Jr., and Joseph.
Richard is survived by his former wife, Patricia Hajzer; his children, Melissa Hajzer-Telofski and her husband, Steve, of Peterboro, NH; and his son, Richard Jr. and his fiancé, Tea Akhobadze; and his loving grandchildren: Maxx, Jack, Reid, and Hannah.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, between the hours of 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's name may be made the to Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation www.T2T.org .
A special, "Thank you," to Fr. John of St. Thomas the Apostle in Old Bridge, for providing last rites and comfort during Richard's last days. Richard loved his family, friends, the NY Yankees and his fond memories of Old Cape Cod. Rest in peace dear faithful one.
